LESEMANN was one of the mid century art world's foremost pioneers in 'ceramicized' paintings. He merged the world of the oil painting with the world of sculpture and pottery and his works are extremely scarce and a demonstration of mid century art genius.
This painting is a great example of his creative mind and we see paint over a textured surface mixed with sand and other elements all carefully heated in a kiln then framed and turned into a the most unique of paintings!
The labor that went into a LESEMANN artwork was phenomenal and he was active for a short while in the late fifties and early sixties. Now his paintings are all but impossible to obtain and are treasured by the mid century art aficionados who can appreciate the labor and brilliance of expression that went into all his works. This abstract is compelling and pure eye candy. One can't look away and its textural elements draw one back in and guide the eyes along the work, flowing through unique color and form.
